My pals from the NorthWest Horse Feathers continue to bubble onwards and forwards with an upcoming West Coast->European tour and new 7″ record (out 10/27). The lovely Cascades 7″ follows last year’s Road To Ruin 7″ and the House With No Home LP. Like the Road to Ruin single, the artwork looks to be carefully drawn by the incredible Lloyd Winter.

“Cascades” (side A) is a classic Horse Feathers gem, ably fitting in the band’s canon with an even-paced keel and careful, longing string-work. The B-side is sure to delight fans of like-minded music everywhere – it’s a gorgeous cover of Gillian Welch‘s “Orphan Girl”! Slowed a bit from the original tempo and sporting some hair-raising dynamics, this version is worth the price of admission alone.
