Today I’d like to be thankful for the internet and its inherent power of bringing homemade items to a world-wide marketplace. I’m a sucker for hand-screened t-shirts with intricate line drawings. (Although perhaps not hand-screened,) I scour the Threadless site for new shirts at least weekly and own four or five from there. Kind of unsure how I found the Timber Preservation Society site but I’m sure glad I did! Artist (+ skateboarder?) Chad Eaton has been selling his homemade shirts on Etsy since last fall. According to his profile, he’s shipped over 1,500 shirts in that time. The formula is simple – hearty, yet simple drawings depicting a workingman’s cartoon world printed on extremely soft and comfortable American Apparel t-shirts. A variety of unique colors (mint? heather plum? steel blue?) and sizes are spread across the designs, of which many are often updated and added. Since I last visited, “Corporate Machine“, “Day Shift, and what looks like a newer version of “Giants” have been added. Check out TIMBER! for some excellent t-shirts!

(Bonus: Etsy has a handy feature that lets sellers highlight their favorite stores on Etsy – a quick glance at the Timber!’s favorites yields a whole swath of excellent, like-minded t-shirt makers.)
